Zach LaVine hosting Chicago All Star Weekend 2020 but will he compete at Dunk Contest?

Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine is still deciding whether to take part in the NBA Dunk Contest this year. The Dunk Contest champion in 2015 and 2016 says he hasn’t practiced at all for the Dunk Contest and doesn’t want just to take part for the sake of it. Winning the event is what he is after: “Obviously, my fatigue level and what events it would be, how much I have to put into it. For the dunk contest, I haven’t practiced at all. I’m not just going to walk into something and throw up an L. I gotta see if I can win,” said LaVine.

You have to respect Zach LaVine but at the same time, this is the first time NBA All-Star Weekend is in Chicago since Michael Jordan played in that town. The passing of Kobe now the league needs Zach LaVine to step up and give the hometown a show. Chicago is his city and I can think of a couple of dunks that he can easily pull out and win this dunk contest. The fact Aaron Gordon is entering in Chicago they need the rematch.

UPDATE - LaVine will not do the Dunk Contest but will compete in 3 point shootout.
